From The President Regarding November Club Day

Club President Adam Bourke wishes to inform club members that the November club day races which were washed out last Saturday, will not be rescheduled to another date. The event could not be rescheduled as there weren’t any available weekends before Christmas.

The championship points for the class driver of the year, will be as at the end of September club day races. The final points tallies are available for all to view on mylaps.com.

Presentation lunch will be held on Sunday December 11 and will be at the Mulgrave Country Club. Tickets cost $30 for Adults, and $15 for children under 12. The function starts at 12pm. Please e-mail Adam to book your tickets.

Junior Top Guns Double Header January 2012

The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club is preparing to once again hold the annual premier Juniors only kart racing event early in the 2012 racing calendar.

Due to the huge success of last years back to back races, held on a Friday and Saturday during the January school holidays, this same format will once again be used. The 2012 Junior Top Guns events will be raced on Friday & Saturday, January 20 & 21, 2012.

The Friday and Saturday races are treated as separate race meetings, with prizes given out for each event. Series prizes will be awarded to the competitors with highest accumulated points from both racing days. To be eligible for series prizes, you must race both events.

Practice for these not to be missed events will be held from 12pm to 4pm on both days and racing will start around 5pm. There will also be one night practice evening held on Saturday January 14.

Junior Racing Development, Australia’s leading Formula Vee racing team is once again showing its support to future stars of Australian motor sport. For the third year running, JRD is sponsoring Australia’s leading junior karting event, and are putting up the fantastic prize of a test in one of the teams championship winning Sabre 02’s.

This year’s selection process is different to previous years. All competitors who will be 15 years of age at June 30 2012 are invited to enter. To be eligible, interested competitors must pre-register via the JRD web site juniorracing.com.au and compete at the two race meetings. Registrations are open so head to the teams site and complete the registration form.

DPE and OGKRC will be giving away:

  • An Arrow Cadet / Rookie chassis
  • A Yamaha KT100S engine, suitable for Junior Clubman

Come Race November Club Day Under Lights

The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club will be holding our last club day races of 2011 this Saturday. Racing will start around 2pm, and will continue until finished whilst racing under lights. If you’ve never experienced racing under lights, come along and give it a try. It’s certainly a thrill.

Weather permitting, the club will be offering three races per class, and the races will be held over 10, 10 and 12 laps respectively.

A BBQ dinner will be available from the friendly canteen volunteers around 6pm, and the bar will be open once racing is completed.

Come and enjoy the last race of the year this Saturday. See you there.

2011 OGKRC Presentation Day

The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club will be holding it’s annual presentation event at the Mulgrave Country Club located at the corner of Wellington & Jells Roads, Wheelers Hill, on Sunday December 11, 2011.

Trophies for the Class Driver of the Year will be presented, along with numerous other awards.

A buffet carvery will be served along with drinks. The event will run from 12pm – 4pm.

Come And Try Day On Today

The club will be holding another “Come & Try Day” today, Saturday November 12, 2011, between 12pm and 5pm.

This is a great opportunity for anyone considering getting into karting to drive a few laps in a race prepared kart, in a controlled environment. We will have race suits and helmets for you to use.
