Junior Racing Development are pleased to announce that we will again be sponsoring Australia’s leading junior karting event, Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club’s – Akebono Brakes Junior Top Guns. The 2014 event marks the fifth year of JRD’s support which has seen kart racers of significant calibre including Pierce Lehane, Matthew McLean, Liam McLellan and Damon Strongman, amongst others, selected to experience the step into formula racing cars. In 2014 the team will be providing one driver the chance to join these drivers on the list of previous winners and experience for themselves a test day with JRD at either the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit or Winton Motor Raceway. Because of licencing restrictions, only drivers aged 14 and over are eligible for selection, with the winner selected by the JRD team who will be at the circuit on both nights. Entrants are required to register in order to be eligible and can do so by going to JRD’s website – juniorracing.com.au and selecting the Akebono Brakes Junior Top Guns section and completing their details, registrations close at 5pm Thursday 16 January 2014.

JRD’s Daniel Reinhardt commented:

We are really excited to once again be supporting the Junior Top Guns event, it is a first class race meeting. The calibre of driver we have seen win the prize over the past five years has been very high and whilst they have not found it easy, every driver who has tested with us so far has shown the aptitude to progress successfully to circuit racing.

President of the Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club – Adam Bourke praised the support of Junior Racing Development:

The continued support of Junior Racing Development is extremely welcome by the Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club. Our association with JRD now dates five years which is a remarkable investment by the JRD team and one we hope can continue in the future. I ask all junior drivers interested in furthering their careers in motorsport to support Junior Racing Development and their development program when they are ready to make the transition to cars.
