Vale Don Waters

The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club sadly advises the passing of one of our most well known and respected members.

Mr Don Waters, life member of the Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club passed away on Saturday 4/11/2017, aged 81.

For over 35 years, Don spent countless hours at the club, helping to run race events as an official (including clerk of course), the general running and maintenance of the club, and assisting club members to learn the challenging OGKRC track layout.

General Meeting November 14 2017

The next Club General Meeting will be on Tuesday November 14 2017, at 7.30 pm in the club rooms. This is a forum where you as members can come and ask questions of the committee, ask questions about the Club, and hear what is happening around the Club.

If you have anything you would like discussed at the November General Meeting please email either David Bell (president@ogkrc.com.au), Sam Sera (vicepresident@ogkrc.com.au) or Vern Kranz (secretary@ogkrc.com.au) and we will have it included in the agenda.

There will be an opportunity to bring up other items on the night when we get to the General Business section of the meeting, but if you know of something please let us know in advance.

The Griffiths Report September Club Day 2017

September Club Day at Oakleigh began with a downpour before Qualifying, then sunshine, then it blew up a gale, then more rain – why would you live anywhere else but Melbourne in spring?

Andrew Sotiropoulos and Alexander Grutteria shared the wins in the Heats and started off the front row for the Finals, Matthew Duncan and Nicholas Flodstrom behind them, but Sotiropoulos took off at the start and was never headed. Important Event – 2017 Annual General Meeting Today

The Annual General Meeting of the Oakeligh Go Kart Racing Club is to be held this Tuesday, September 19, in the club rooms at 7.30pm.

At this meeting, club members can vote for their preferred committee members that will manage the day to day operations of the club for the next twelve months.

All club members, please come along and participate in this important club function.

Light refreshments will be served.

The Griffiths Report August Club Day 2017

For Oakleigh’s August Club Day we run the now traditional Saturday Day / Night meeting as we prepare to shake off winter generally come out of hibernation. Winter wasn’t entirely done with though as we raced through a chilly and cloudy afternoon that turned into a rainy evening which livened up a few of the later races. We ran two heats, a pre final and a final for August with the heats drawn random and reverse – my preferred race format for Club Days if anyone cares!

The report this month is a shortened version as I was also doing flags and with a number of combined classes and some wet races towards the end it is all a bit short on details. Apologies if I missed your particularly spectacular passing move, but here’s what I saw:
